Lutz Jaeger

Lutz Jaeger (born July 18, 1944 in Liegau-Augustusbad ) is a German climatologist .

Life

Jaeger was born in Liegau-Augustusbad, Saxony , in 1944 . He passed his Abitur in 1964 in Esslingen am Neckar in Baden-Württemberg . He then studied geography, physics and chemistry at universities in Tübingen , Bonn and Zurich . After completing his state examination in Tübingen in 1969 , he worked for a year in Esslingen am Neckar as a high school teacher.

From 1970 to 1972 he was employed as a research assistant at the Geographical Institute of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn until he moved to the Meteorological Institute of the University of Freiburg in 1972 . Here he was given the title of Academic Council , later that of the Academic Senior Council. In 1975 he received his doctorate on the topic of global balances of precipitation , followed by his habilitation in 1994 on the topic of climatology of the heat balance of a pine forest in the southern Upper Rhine plain . In 2001 Jaeger was appointed adjunct professor .

Jaeger ran in the 2014 local elections for the SPD Freiburg as a candidate for the municipal council .
