Lutz Schega

Lutz Schega (* 1964 ) is a German sports scientist and university professor .

Life

Schega studied sports science from 1985 to 1989 at the German University for Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig , he wrote his diploma thesis on the subject of “The application of lesson plans for wheelchair basketball and their effectiveness on components of physical performance - checked against the conditions of the GDR's sports badge program ". From 1990 to 1996 he worked as a sports therapist and manager of a rehabilitation center in Zwickau and wrote his doctoral thesis at the same time (title: "On exercise control in swimming therapy with heart attack rehabilitants on the basis of different spiroergometric diagnoses"), which he wrote in 1994 at the Chemnitz University of Technology. Zwickau completed.

From 1996 to 2004 Schega held a position as a scientific assistant at the University of Leipzig , in 2003 his habilitation (title: "Performance diagnostic concept for exercise and sports therapy of CHD patients: to assess the stress situation in the medium of water" ) accepted. In 2004 and 2005 he worked as a scientist at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium , and from 2006 to 2008 he was the head of the Sports Academy of the Free State of Thuringia . From 2008 to 2010 Schega completed a further degree in health sports at the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences .

In 2009 and 2010, Schega held a position as a research assistant at the Institute for Occupational Medicine at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg , and in 2011 he began a research stay as a visiting professor at Boston University in the United States , before joining the institute for sports science at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg a professorship for training and health. In 2016 his chair was renamed "Health and Physical Activity".

Schega's research focuses on the areas of health and rehabilitation sports (e.g. through swimming), health promotion, performance diagnostics and disabled sports.
