Lutz E. von Padberg

Lutz E. von Padberg (born February 22, 1950 in Essen ) is a German medieval and church historian . His research focus is European history in the early Middle Ages , especially the mission and Christianization of Europe in the Middle Ages.

Career

After the first state examination (1974) and the doctorate (1980) at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , the habilitation followed in 1993 at the University of Paderborn . Von Padberg was a private lecturer there from 1993 to 1999 . Since 1999 he has been an adjunct professor for medieval history at the Historical Institute of the Faculty of Cultural Studies.

From 1986 to 1999 von Padberg was visiting professor at the Evangelical Theological Faculty in Leuven . From 1986 to 2013 he was a lecturer in historical theology at the Free Theological University of Giessen .
