Michael von Fürstenberg
Michael Freiherr von Fürstenberg (* 1942 ; † March 22, 2012 in Münster ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman.

Michael von Fürstenberg came from the old, Catholic Westphalian noble family of the Barons von Fürstenberg -Körtlinghausen. He was the son of Ferdinand Freiherr von Fürstenberg (1894–1974) and Ruth von Carlowitz (1898–1966), the daughter of Adolph von Carlowitz .
After being expelled from Silesia and fleeing from Saxony, they lived in 1946 with his godfather Hermann Freiherr von Fürstenberg at Körtlinghausen Castle in Sauerland .
Michael von Fürstenberg was the owner of Eggeringhausen Palace , which he inherited from Lothar Freiherr von Fürstenberg in 1951.
Life
Michael von Fürstenberg studied agricultural sciences (1965, qualified agricultural engineer Dipl.-Ing.agr.) And worked in the family business. As a late caller , he entered the Paderborn seminary. Archbishop Johannes Joachim Degenhardt sent him in 1977 to study philosophy and theology at the Pontificium Collegium Germanicum et Hungaricum de Urbe , the German seminary in Rome. In 1981 he received the Provost Church of St. Lawrence in Arnsberg by Maximilian Cardinal von Furstenberg , the ordination . On July 19, 1981, he celebrated his first Mass in St. Alexander in Mellrich . From 1981 to 1983 he completed his doctoral studies in canon law at the Roman Pontifical Gregorian University and became a Doctor iuris canonici (Doctor of Law. Can.) PhD . He was the parish administrator in Neuenbeken, diocesan judge at the Archbishopric Paderborn and diocesan pastor of the Malteser Hilfsdienst . From 1997 to 1999 he was the successor of Hans-Josef Becker diocesan pastor of the Order of Malta ; he was followed in 2000 by Peter Schallenberg . He was a Knight of Honor and Devotion of the Order of Malta. In 1985 he received the knighthood of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in Regensburg . He was appointed papal chaplain ( monsignor ) by Pope John Paul II .
