The Lucerne Festival is a folk festival in the city of Lucerne . It took place for the first time on June 27, 2009 and combines the former Lucerne Old Town Festival and the Lake Night Festival. At the premiere, over 100,000 people attended the event, making it the largest annual one-day event in Central Switzerland and the second largest spectacle after the Lucerne Carnival .

Concerts were held on 20 festival sites in the old and new towns and around the Lucerne lake basin and food from all origins was offered. Performed at the premiere: Bligg , Seven (singer) , Oropax , Marc Sway .

The Lucerne City Council granted the organizers a general permit for an initial period of three years.

The second Lucerne Festival took place on June 26, 2010. Over 100,000 people flocked to the 20 festival sites and attended concerts and performances by Fabienne Louves , Baschi , Dada (ante portas) , Michel Gammenthaler , Michael Elsner , Angy Burri and others.

Since then, the Lucerne Festival has been held every year on the last weekend in June. In the first few years the festival was limited to Saturday, from 2015 the event was extended to Friday evening.

The net proceeds from the event will go to the “Lucerne Helping Lucerne” foundation, which supports twelve charitable organizations with a total of 100,000 francs. Together with the old town Fäscht , which has been taking place on the same weekend since 2016 , a total of 150,000 francs will be given to charitable organizations.
