Taxonomy and systematics
The Lyctocoridae bugs are considered by some authors as a subfamily of the flower bugs (Anthocoridae). The Lyctocoridae consist only of members of the genus Lyctocoris Hahn , 1836. Of the 27 recent species, 20 occur in the Palearctic . 7 species are native to the Nearctic . A species native to the Palearctic, Lyctocoris campestris , was introduced to North America. Lyctocoris hawaiiensis is considered a neozoon on the Hawaiian island of Maui .
