Lydia Davis

Lydia Davis (born July 15, 1947 in Northampton , Massachusetts ) is an American writer and translator , best known for her short stories.

Life

Lydia Davis is a daughter of American communists. When she was seven she was a student of the Ursulines in Graz for a year .

Davis teaches at the State University of New York in Albany in the state of New York Creative Writing .

Davis translated works by Maurice Blanchot into English as well as Marcel Proust's novel In Search of Lost Time .
