Lydia Jeruto Lagat (born November 23, 2000 ) is a Kenyan medium and long distance runner who specializes in distances between 800 m and 5000 m .

Athletic career

Lydia Jeruto Lagat gained her first international experience at the 2017 World Youth Championships in Nairobi , where she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Jackline Wambui in 2: 02.06 min . The following year she reached the semi-finals at the U20 World Championships in Tampere , where she was eliminated with 2: 04.59 min. At the 2019 World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus , she finished tenth in the U20 classification in 21:44 minutes and secured the silver medal behind the Ethiopians with the team. Then won the bronze medal at the Junior African Championships in Abidjan in 2: 04.78 min. In August, she finished sixth in the 5000 meter run at the Africa Games in Rabat in 15: 43.56 minutes .
