Lydia Ko , MNZM ( Korean : 고 보경, Hanja : 高 寶 璟, born April 24, 1997 in Seoul , South Korea , born Ko Bo-gyung ) is a New Zealand professional golfer . She was number one amateur golfer for 130 weeks until she switched to the professional camp on October 23, 2013. Lydia Ko is the youngest person to ever win an LPGA Tour tournament and the only female golfer to have won more than one LPGA Tour tournament as an amateur. At the beginning of February 2015, she was number one in the world at the age of 17 , making her the youngest No. 1 in the history of golf. She won the silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
