Success as an amateur

Professional career

Tseng switched to the professional camp in January 2007. She played on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour and won the DLF Women's Indian Open . She also played on the CN Canadian Women's Tour , where she won the tournament at the Vancouver Golf Club .

Because Tseng finished sixth in the final LPGA qualification tournament in December 2007, she was granted full eligibility to play the 2008 LPGA Tour. In June 2008, she won her first win on the LPGA Tour, the LPGA Championship , the first major win for a Taiwanese player at all. As a 19-year-old, she was also the youngest winner of the LPGA Championship and the second youngest winner of a major tournament. She became the best newcomer ( rookie ) of 2008. In April 2010 she won her second major, the Kraft Nabisco Championship .

On March 29, 2009, Tseng's winning prizes topped the $ 2 million mark, faster than any other player in LPGA history. It took her 32 tournaments within 1 year, 1 month and 13 days to achieve this record. Until then, Paula Creamer had held this record with 1 year, 4 months and 15 days - set in 2006.
