Lorena Ochoa (born November 15, 1981 in Guadalajara ) is a former Mexican professional golfer on the LPGA Tour . Considered the best female golfer in her country of all time, she led the world rankings for women for 158 consecutive weeks from 2007 to 2010.

Lorena started playing golf at the age of five, won her first regional tournament at the age of six and her first national one at the age of seven. Overall, Ochoa was successful in the youth field 22 times regionally and 44 times nationally and won five consecutive titles at the Junior World Golf Championships from 1990 to 1994 . She attended the University of Arizona for two years , was named National Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002, and came second at the NCAA National Championships of those years.

Ochoa became a golf pro in 2002 and first played on the second-ranked North American Futures Tour, where she immediately qualified for the big LPGA Tour 2003 with three tournament successes in her first season . During that season she finished eight in the top 10, including two second places, and Ochoa was then awarded the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Award for best newcomer. The first victories followed in 2004 and after numerous successes on the LPGA Tour, she took over the leading position in the Women's World Golf Rankings on April 22, 2007 . In August 2007 she achieved her first major victory by winning the Women's British Open at the Old Course in St Andrews . In addition, after seven tournament victories - including three in a row - in 2007, Ochoa became the first female golfer to reach over three million dollars in prize money in one season.

A few months after their marriage, she announced her retirement from the LPGA Tour in April 2010.
