Morgan Pressel (born May 23, 1988 in Tampa , Florida ) is an American professional golfer on the North American LPGA Tour . In 2007, at the age of 18, she became the youngest major winner.

family

Pressel grew up with her parents Mike Pressel and Kathy Krickstein Pressel in Tampa , Florida , and attended Banyan Creek Elementary School and Omni Middle School there . In 2006 she graduated from Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton . According to her statement, the Jewish religion plays a big role in her life.

After her mother died of breast cancer in September 2003 , Pressel moved in with her grandparents Evelyn Krickstein and Dr. Herb Krickstein, while her two younger siblings stayed with their father. Her uncle is the former top 10 tennis player Aaron Krickstein , who holds the record as the youngest winner of a professional tournament.

Career

amateur

In 2001 Pressel took part in the United States Women's Open Championship at the age of twelve, making it the youngest player to ever qualify. This record lasted until 2007, when Lexi Thompson , who was just a few months younger, qualified.

At the age of seventeen, she finished second in the US Women's Open , two strokes behind Birdie Kim .

In 2004 she won the North and South Women's Amateur Golf Championship and in 2005 the US Women's Open . She also ended her amateur career with the title of Junior Player of the Year from the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association)

professional

At seventeen she became a member of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), although regulations say members must be eighteen years old. At the qualifying tournament in Daytona Beach , she finished sixth and thus secured participation in the 2006 Tour.

Pressel scored her first victory in the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2007 and became the youngest major winner at 18 years and 313 days. Her first hole-in-one as a professional golfer came on July 15, 2007 at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Sylvania , Ohio . In 2007, 2009 and 2011 she qualified for the Solheim Cup team, with which she won the first two tournaments.

It belongs to the sports agency Wasserman Media Group and is an advertising partner of Callaway Golf , Polo Ralph Lauren, Royal Bank of Canada and Audemars Piguet .
