The Washington Township is one of 18 townships in Jackson County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

Washington Township is located in eastern Iowa at the confluence of the Maquoketa River with the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois . The Wisconsin border is around 50 km north.
The Washington Township is located at 42 ° 09'41 "north latitude and 90 ° 21'53" west longitude and extends over 103.3 km², which is spread over 97.6 km² of land and 5.7 km² of water.
About a quarter of the area of Washington Township is taken up by the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge , a large sanctuary that spans the states of Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota .
The Washington Township is in the east of Jackson County. The Mississippi forms the border to Jo Daviess and Carroll County in Illinois in the east . Within Jackson County, Washington Township is bordered by Iowa Township to the east and southeast , Van Buren Township to the south, Fairfield Township to the southwest, Jackson Township to the west and Bellevue Township to the north .
