The Butler Township is one of 18 townships in Jackson County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

The Butler Township is located in eastern Iowa about 35 km west of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois . The Wisconsin border is around 35 km northeast.
The Butler Township is 42 ° 15'24 "north latitude and 90 ° 51'00" west longitude and extends over 94 km². The extreme southwest of Butler Township is crossed from the northern Maquoketa River, which the butler Rownship in about 30 km southeast, Maquoketa with Southern Maquoketa River combined.
The Butler Township is located in the extreme northwest of Jackson County and is bordered to the north by Dubuque and to the west by Jones County . Within Jackson County, Butler Township is bordered to the east by Otter Creek Township , to the southeast by Farmers Creek Township and to the south by Brandon Township .
