The Van Buren Township is one of 18 townships in Jackson County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

The Van Buren Township is located in eastern Iowa about 15 km west of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois . The Wisconsin border is 40 miles north.
The Van Buren Township is located at 42 ° 04'34 "north latitude and 90 ° 22'16" west longitude and extends over 94 km², which is spread over 93.5 km² of land and 0.5 km² of water. The Maquoketa River , a right tributary of the Mississippi, flows through the northwest of the township .
The Van Buren Township is located in the southeast of Jackson County and borders on Clinton County to the south . Within Jackson County, Van Buren Township is bordered to the west by Fairfield Township , to the northwest by Jackson Township , to the north by Washington Township and to the east by Iowa Township .
