The Fairfield Township is one of 18 townships in Jackson County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

Fairfield Township is located in eastern Iowa around 25 km west of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois . The Wisconsin border is approximately 55 km north.

The Fairfield Township lies at 42 ° 04'50 "north latitude and 90 ° 29'14" west longitude and extends over 93.2 km², which is spread over 92.2 km² of land and 1 km² of water. The Fairfield Township is traversed by the Maquoketa River , a right tributary of the Mississippi.

Fairfield Township is located in the south of Jackson County and borders on Clinton County to the south . Within Jackson County, Fairfield Township borders on Maquoketa Township in the west, Perry Township in the northwest , Jackson Township in the north, Washington Township in the northeast and Van Buren Township in the east .

Iowa Highway 64 runs through Fairfield Township in a west-east direction . All other roads are either county roads or subordinate and partly unpaved roads.

At the 2010 census , the township had 362 residents. In addition to scattered settlement, there is only one independent municipality, Spragueville (with the status " City "), which is partly in the neighboring Van Buren Township to the east.
