The Union Township is one of 18 townships in Jackson County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .
geography
The Union Township is located in eastern Iowa on the western bank of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Illinois . The Wisconsin border is approximately 60 km north.
The Union Township is located at 42 ° 04'48 "north latitude and 90 ° 11'22" west longitude and extends over 45.4 km², which is spread over 33.7 km² of land and 11.7 km² of water.
The Union Township is located in the extreme southeast of Jackson County and borders on Clinton County to the south . To the east, the Mississippi forms the border with Carroll County in Illinois. Within Jackson County, Union Township is only bordered by Iowa Township to the west .

Along the Mississippi River Township lead by the Union here the Iowa section of the Great River Road forming US Highways 52 and 67 . In the center of the township, both highways and Iowa Highway 64 meet. Highway 52 leads from here over the Savanna-Sabula Bridge to Savanna in Illinois. All other roads are either county roads or subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
A Canadian National Railway runs along the Mississippi River through Union Township .
The closest airfields are the Tri-Township Airport near Savanna, around 15 km southeast, and Clinton Municipal Airport, around 40 km south-southeast . The nearest major airport is Quad City International Airport (around 95 km south-southeast).
