history
Lyman was founded in 1876 and was previously called Wilmoth. The place name was changed in memory of the LDS Apostle Francis Lyman. A plaque commemorates the first grave in Lyman. David Sabin Young died in 1878, David's father, Franklin Young, gave the land to the city in order to set up a public cemetery.
