The Lynes Woods Wildlife Sanctuary is a 188 acres (76.1 ha ) comprehensive protected area in Westhampton in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is administered by the Massachusetts Audubon Society .
Protected area
The sanctuary is close to the Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary and is home to a wide variety of animals and plants with forests, shrubbery fields, and wetlands . Old stone walls bear witness to its earlier use as a farm and orchard . There is a 1 mi (1.6 km ) long circular route available to visitors, which leads along the Lyman Brook flowing through the reserve and through dense stands of broad-leaved bay rose ( Kalmia latifolia , mountain laurel).
Birds such as the warbler or woodpeckers as well as mammals such as foxes , black bears and moose can be observed. A popular observation point is at the old farm pond on the northern border of the protected area.
