Today Lyrabus consists of only a few inhabited houses. In 1841 88 people were counted there, while in 1851 there were 102 inhabitants. Lyrabus is not explicitly listed in the current census.
Surroundings
The remains of a chapel and cemetery are located about 200 m southeast of Craigens Farm . Nothing is known about the origin of the 8.4 × 5.8 m 2 building. According to reports from the owners of the site, the ruins have remained unchanged since the mid-16th century. The former chapel is referred to as Cill Eileagain , although the name cannot be historically verified.
Foreland House is about 1.5 km to the west . This was built around 1820 for Walter Frederick Campbell , the Laird of Islay.
