natural reserve

It is important due to the occurrence of the pasque flower ( Pulsatilla patens ) and the endemic Bohemian meadow pasque flower ( Pulsatilla pratensis bohemica ), which is why the upper part (6.67 ha) of the elevation has been a nature reserve since 1949 as the Holý vrch u Hlinné nature reserve . The occurrence of the species mentioned is currently endangered. The population of the rare bastard Pulsatilla Hackelii was largely extinct at the end of the 1990s. After the dry summer in 2003, the pasque flower also largely disappeared.

The reasons for this species decline have not yet been fully researched. It is assumed that there is a connection with the enormous pollution caused by air pollutants to which the site has been particularly exposed in recent decades.

Various measures are currently being taken to restore the summit plateau to its original state. The spread of blackthorn and dog rose was stopped by removing a large part of these wild bushes. For some years now, as in earlier times, the area has been grazed with old breeds of domestic animals in order to accelerate the restoration of the once natural state. As a result of these measures, a recovery in the number of the pasque flower was observed for the first time in spring 2006.

Paths to the summit

There is no official hiking trail leading to the top of the mountain. Entering the fenced area should be avoided for reasons of nature conservation.
