The StEG procured these triple-coupled machines from its own locomotive factory from 1866 to 1873 . The vehicles initially provided with the StEG operating numbers 504-581 were given the numbers 758-835 and the category designation IVs from 1873. The numbers 836–859 were added as newly acquired locomotives of this series. In 1897 they were finally given the designation 3301–3374.

On the occasion of the nationalization of the Hungarian routes of the StEG in 1891, 14 of these vehicles came to MÁV as IIIm 3061–3074 , which they assigned to the 358 series from 1911 onwards.

Twelve each were built in 1875 for the Imperial and Royal Tarnów – Leluchówer State Railways and in 1875/76 for Rakonitz - Protivín . On the Tarnów – Leluchów state railway, the twelve machines were named BIAŁA , BOBOWA , DUNAJEC , GROMNIK , GRYBÓW , KRYNICA , LELUCHÓW , RYTRO , TARNÓW , TUCHÓW , SZCZAWINCA and ŻEGIESTÓW . To the supplies for the Rakonitz-Protivíner train also were locomotive factory Floridsdorf and Wiener Neustadt locomotive factory involved. The machines had the track numbers 201–212 and the names BERAUN , BŘEZNIC , MILIN , MIROVIC , PISEK , PŘIBRAM , PROTIWIN , PÜRGLITZ , RAKONITZ , ZDIC , ALTHÜTTEN and STADTL .

After the nationalization of the locomotives of Tarnow-Leluchówer state railway as were 32.01-12 which StEG machines as 32.31-91 Rakonitz-Protivíner and the locomotives of the train first as 37.01 -12 , 1892 as 32.13-24 referred.

After the First World War , the remaining eight pieces of the Rakonitz-Protivín railway came as 311.0 and 40 pieces of the StEG machines as 311.1 to ČSD , which they retired by 1937. The BBÖ received two machines from the Tarnow-Leluchówer Bahn (32.02 and 03) and three of the StEG locomotives (32.45, 72 and 76), all of which were withdrawn from their stock by 1925. Two of the locomotives of the Tarnow-Leluchów Railway came to Yugoslavia , one to Italy as FS 198.001 . The rest of the machines of the Tarnow-Leluchów Railway that remained after the war came to the PKP , as did some machines of the Rakonitz-Protivín Railway , which they retired without assigning them their own series designation.
