Malå (formerly Malåträsk; Umesamisch Máláge; South Sami Maalege ) is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and the historical province of Lapland .
The place is located 70 km north of Lycksele on Länsväg 370 and is the capital of the municipality of the same name . In 2015, 65.7% of the total population of the municipality lived here. The place is located on the east bank of the lake Malåträsket , through which the Malån river flows.
