Coordinates: 65 ° 11 ′ N , 18 ° 45 ′ O Malå is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and the historic province of Lapland . The main town of the municipality is Malå .
Other places are Adak , Aspliden , Rentjärn , Rökå and the summer camp Koppsele . Regional road 370 runs through the municipality. As of 2018, it is the sixth smallest municipality in Sweden.
An example of famous people from the municipality is Stor-Stina, also known as Långa Lapplickan (the Long Samem girl).

politics
The largest party, except in 2006, has always been the Swedish Social Democrats (SAP) , which got a majority in every election in the 1980s.
After the victory of the newly founded Malålistan party in 2006, it ruled for four years in a right-wing coalition across the country, typical for this term after the success of Fredrik Reinfeld and his alliance , with the People's Party , Center Party and Christian Democrats .
Since 2010 the Social Democrats have been in power again , together with the Left Party .
