Coordinates: 63 ° 54 '  N , 19 ° 45'  O Vännäs is a municipality ( Swedish commun ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and the historic provinces of Ångermanland and Västerbotten . The main town of the municipality is Vännäs .

Europastraße 12 and Reichsstraße 92 run through the municipality .

geography

The municipality is located in the foothills of the Scandinavian Mountains and is characterized by a hilly landscape. The municipality is characterized by the valleys of the two rivers Ume älv and Vindelälven , which meet at Vännäsby.

economy

Forestry, the wood processing industry and electricity generation from hydropower are important branches of the economy. Part of the working population also commutes to the neighboring coastal communities, especially Umeå .
