As hll. Martyrs of Uganda are venerated by a group of twenty-two martyrs in the Roman Catholic Church . These were servants of the King of Buganda who had been converted to Catholicism by the missionaries of Cardinal Charles Lavigerie ( White Fathers ) and under the reign of Mwanga II (1884-1903) between November 15, 1885 and January 27, 1887 because of suffered martyrdom of their faith through dismemberment and burning alive. The feast day of St. Karl Lwanga and his companions are June 3rd .

Pope Benedict XV said the Martyrs of Uganda on June 6, 1920 blessed . On October 8, 1964, they were in Rome by Pope Paul VI. canonized .

The Basilica of the Martyrs of Uganda in Namugongo was designed by the Swiss architect Justus Dahinden and consecrated in 1973, the Basilica of the Martyrs of Uganda in Munyonyo in the south of Kampala was completed in 2016.
