Coordinates: 49 ° 34 ′ 35.8 " N , 11 ° 24 ′ 43.2" E
The Märzenbecherwald in Algersdorf is a small wooded area near Algersdorf , a district of Kirchensittenbach , in the central Franconian district of Nürnberger Land . The place owes its name to the frequent occurrence of the spring flower Märzenbecher .
location
The Märzenbecherwald is located about 600 meters south of the village of Algersdorf in the Sittenbachtal on a swampy eastern slope.
description
The area is an approximately 1.5 hectare large deciduous forest area and a designated natural monument . It is the largest occurrence of the spring knot flower in the district of Nürnberger Land. The Märzenbecher grows particularly well on the swampy ground and covers the brown deciduous forest floor with a carpet of white flowers in spring. Every year, depending on the weather, it blooms between late February and early April. The area is designated as a natural monument (ND-Nr. ND-05185).
Access
The Märzenbecherwald can only be reached via a hiking trail from Algersdorf or Dietershofen . The Franconian Mountain Trail leads directly past the hillside forest. The area is freely accessible, but out of consideration for this unique nature it should only be entered via a beaten path.
Others
The 3.5 hectare site was bought by the Bund Naturschutz in 2019 . Another such occurrence is located near Hundsdorf in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district , see Märzenbecherwald near Ettenstatt .
