The Munkbrarup mill bears the name Mill Hope and is a basement Dutch windmill built in 1868 in the municipality of Munkbrarup , east of Flensburg and south of Glücksburg on the federal road 199 to Kappeln in the Schleswig-Flensburg district .

On the Holländer windmill of the Berg- or Wallholländer type there is a rotatable cap that is turned into the wind by means of a harvester using a reel . The sail gate wings are the drive for three grinding cycles and one peeling cycle. The mill is a listed cultural monument in Schleswig-Holstein .

history

The mill was initially in Meierwik from 1845 . In 1868, however, it was rebuilt in Munkbrarup from the old components. In 1978 the repair and restoration of the mill began. Another repair took place in 2006, the remaining peeling stone was repaired in 2011. Considerable financial subsidies were used for this construction work. With the restored peeling stone, the mill is one of the very few windmills that use wind power to peel barley into pearl barley. The mill has been in the family for five generations. The "Mühlenverein Munkbrarup e. V. “supports the owner in maintaining the windmill.
