Mükerrem Taşçıoğlu

Mehmet Mükerrem Taşçıoğlu (* 1926 in Ezine , Çanakkale Province ; † March 17, 2017 in Istanbul ) was a Turkish politician of the motherland party ANAP ( Anavatan Partisi ) , who was Minister of Culture and Tourism between 1983 and 1986 and then from 1986 to 1987 was Minister for Labor and Social Security.

Life

Taşçıoğlu began studying at the Istanbul Technical University ( İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi ) after attending the Galatasaray High School (Galatasaray Lisesi ) . He also completed a semester abroad at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Liège and was an assistant professor at the Istanbul Technical University. Later he was also an advisor to the General Directorate for Highways TCK (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Karayolları Genel Müdürlüğü) and head of the planning department of the Ministry of Transport before he was an advisor to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. In 1983 he was one of the co-founders of the motherland party ANAP, for which he was first elected to the Grand National Assembly in the parliamentary elections on November 6, 1983 . There he represented the interests of the Sivas Province until November 2, 1991 .

Taşçıoğlu was between December 13, 1983 and his replacement by Mesut Yılmaz on October 17, 1986 Minister of Culture and Tourism (Kültür ve Turizm Bakanı) in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Turgut Özal . On October 17, 1986, as part of a cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Özal appointed him to succeed Mustafa Kalemli as Minister of Labor and Social Security (Çalışma ve Sosyal Güvenlik Bakanı) and held this post in the 45th Turkish government until December 21 1987.

He was married and had one child.
