history

Munich Gallery Theater: Faust II

The Münchner Galerie Theater emerged from the puppet theater of the Munich Biennale . It was founded on November 15, 1996 by Manuela Clarin and Ingmar Thilo in the Universal Arts gallery in the Neuhausen district of Munich with the world premiere of Eurydike, a musical for puppets . An intensive guest performance followed at the Ludwig-Thoma-Theater in Munich with the German premiere of the Minotaur by Friedrich Dürrenmatt . The premiere of Faust I by JW Goethe in the Bürgerhaus Gräfelfing on November 24th, 2000 led to the division of the theater into two departments: Since then, the drama department has mainly performed in the Black Box in Gasteig Munich, while the puppet theater department has mainly been in the music box since 2004 can be seen in the Künstlerhaus . Particular highlights were the guest performance with Faust I at the Avignon Festival and the German premiere of Elisas Haut by the Canadian author Carole Fréchette in 2001. Since 2007 the theater has made frequent guest appearances in the newly founded Kammertheater Schwabing (since 2009 Heppel and Ettlich in the drugstore ) and in the Pepper Theater , Munich.
