The Müritzsee is a lake in the municipality of Priborn in the Mecklenburg Lake District . It is part of the chain of lakes that adjoins the Müritz to the south . The poorly structured, between 200 and 750 meters wide body of water is a little over 3.6 kilometers long. The lake has a striking west basin with a north-facing bay and a north-east basin separated by a narrow passage that is only 30 meters wide. In the north it goes into the Müritzarm . The northern shore of the lake and the surrounding area, the Priborn Heath , are forested. The surrounding hills reach the highest elevation with the Schwalbenberg with its 81.8 meters above sea level. At the west end is the place Buchholz with a campsite right on the lake and a marina.
In various historical works, the entire north of Müritz was referred to as Müritzsee .
