The Edesheimer forest is up to 270  m above sea level. NHN high and about 2.5 x 1.5 km large mountain range of the Leinebergland . It is located in the eponymous Edesheim in the district of Northeim in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

location

The Edesheimer Wald is located about 5 km north of the Northeim core city and 2 km east of the village of Edesheim, a northern part of Northeim. The ridge, which runs in the south-south-west-north-northeast direction, is located in the Northeim urban area and meets the municipality of Kalefeld in the north-northeast .

Natural allocation

The Edesheimer Wald belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Weser-Leine-Bergland ( no.37 ), in the main unit south-western Harz foreland (376) and in the subunit Rittigau (376.0) to the southern part of the natural area Kahlefelder Lößsenke (376.02). The landscape leads east into the natural area Kreiensen-Northeimer Kalkberge (376.04) and to the northwest into the natural area Buntsandsteinberge von Salzderhelden (376.00). To the south it leads into the natural area of gravel fields of the Rhume , Oder and Sieber (376.23 ) belonging to the subunit Osterode-Herzberger Vorland (376.2) and to the southwest to west into the subunit Leineaue (372.3 ) belonging to the main unit Leine-Ilme-Senke (372) ).

Surveys

The elevations of the Edesheimer Wald are: Edesheimer Berg ( 270  m ), Wasenberg ( 245  m ) and Klosterberg ( 237.5  m ). Neighboring north-northeast is the Aßberg ( 222  m ), and one of the foothills of the ridge is the Wehklag ( 192.5  m ) in the west .

Waters

Northwest to north of the ridge and especially beyond the Aßberg lies the valley of the Aue tributary Eboldshausen Bach, which flows approximately to the northeast . To the east, the landscape falls into the valley of the Rhume tributary, the Dune (Uhbach) , which runs to the south , and to the west over Edesheim to the Leine , in whose valley the Northeimer Seenplatte extends near the ridge .

Localities

The uninhabited Edesheimer Wald is surrounded by these localities ( starting clockwise at the eponymous locality): Edesheim (west), Hohnstedt (northwest), Eboldshausen (north; beyond the Aßberg), Imbshausen (east), Gutshof Wiebrechtshausen (southeast) and Langenholtensen (South-southeast). With the exception of Eboldshausen, which belongs to the municipality of Kalefeld, all belong to the city of Northeim.

Protected areas

The landscape protection area (LSG) Edesheimer Berg ( CDDA no. 320493) is located on the Edesheimer Wald ; it was first designated in 1984 to 3.58  km² , and in 2000 it was expanded to 3.7 km². In the south of the ridge, on the south-western slope of the Klosterberg near the peaks, there is the fauna-flora-habitat area Klosterberg (FFH No. 4225-331; 9.18  ha ).

traffic

Federal Motorway 7 runs directly east and south past the Edesheimer Wald, which is criss-crossed by forest and hiking trails, between the Echte (to Kalefeld) and Northeim-Nord junctions . Beyond that, the federal highway 248 runs a little further east between Northeim and Echte . Bundesstraße 3 runs through Edesheim to the west (where the route shares with the Deutsche Fachwerkstraße ).

To the west, the Edesheim Forest near Edesheim is crossed by the Hannöversche Südbahn (main line Hanover - Göttingen ), with nearby stations in Northeim and Salzderhelden , a south-eastern district of Einbeck . The Hanover – Würzburg high-speed line also runs along there.
