M. Sarbini

M. Sarbini (born May 29, 1914 in Karanganyar , Kabupaten Kebumen , Jawa Tengah , † August 21, 1977 in Jakarta ) was an Indonesian lieutenant general and politician .

Life

Sarbini participated in the War of Independence against the civil administration in the Dutch East Indies NICU (Nederlandsch-Indian Civiele Administratie) part and served as lieutenant colonel commander of a regiment of the People's Security Army TKR (Tentara Keamanan Rakyat) . After the Indonesian declaration of independence on August 17, 1945, he joined the Indonesian armed forces ABRI (Angkatan Bersenjata Republic of Indonesia) founded on October 5, 1945, today's Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI). He then took from October 20 to December 15, 1945 against the British Armyparticipated in the battle for Ambarawa near Semarang . After the end of the War of Independence and the recognition of independence by the Netherlands on December 27, 1949, he found numerous uses as an officer and staff officer in the armed forces.

In the governments of President Sukarno , Major General Sarbini was initially Minister for Veterans Affairs and Demobilization (Menteri Urusan Veteran dan Demobilisasi) from August 27, 1964 to February 22, 1966 . On February 24, 1966, Major General Sarbini replaced Abdul Haris Nasution as Coordinating Minister for Defense Security (Menteri Coordinator Pertahanan Keamanan) and held this office until March 27, 1966, before Suharto became the new Minister of Defense on August 28 . At the same time he was also Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces on February 24, 1966 (Kepala Staf Angkatan Bersenjata) . He himself was Minister for Demobilization and Retired Army Members (Menteri Demobilisasi dan Pensiunan Tentara) from March 27 to July 25, 1966 and Minister for Veterans and Demobilization (Menteri Veteran dan Demobilisasi) between July 25, 1966 and October 17, 1967 .

After Suharto took office, he held the post of Minister for Transmigration, Veterans and Demobilization (Menteri Transmigrasi, Veteran dan Demobilisasi) between October 17, 1967 and June 6, 1968, and then from June 6, 1968 to June 9, 1968. September 1971 as Minister for Transmigration and Cooperatives (Menteri Transmigrasi dan Koperasi) .

He retired as Lieutenant General (Letnan Jenderal TNI) of the infantry and last succeeded Hamengkubuwono IX on November 27, 1974 . as chairman of the (Kwartir Nasional) , the national board of the scout organization ( Gerakan Pramuka Indonesia ) . He held this position until his death on August 21, 1971, after which the former governor of Jawa Barat Lieutenant General Mashudi succeeded him.
