1985 MAN with the SG 242 H or SG 292 H the VÖV - standard articulated the second generation as the successor of the MAN SG 240 H or SG 280 H put on the market.
Like its predecessor, it is an articulated bus with a rear engine , in which the middle axle is driven by a drive shaft with a constant velocity joint that runs through the joint . The SG 242 H was only offered with the city bus front. Since the MAN SG 242 articulated pusher bus came onto the market only a short time later , very few vehicles of this type were sold. These buses were shorter and a little more manoeuvrable than articulated pusher buses because they were equipped with a single-wheeled and self- steering axle in the trailer . They were sold almost exclusively to transport companies on the Rhine and Ruhr ; the Rheinbahn Düsseldorf , the SWK Krefeld and the Dortmunder Stadtwerke owned large numbers of them. Like his predecessors and successors, he was at Göppel in Augsburg made.
In 1990 production was stopped and only the MAN SG 242 was offered.
