MC Wolgast

The MC Wolgast (officially: Motorsportclub Wolgast im ADMV eV ) is a sports club active in the field of motorsports in the city of Wolgast in the northeast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It was created on December 1, 1956 as the motor racing section of BSG Motor Wolgast , the company sports association of the Wolgast Peene shipyard . On April 12, 1958, it was spun off as an independent association.

The first motocross race organized by the association took place in 1957 on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the city of Wolgast. During the time of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), athletes of the club won nine championship titles and twelve runners-up titles in individual and team disciplines in automobile sport and motocross at GDR championships. The club, which with around 500 members was one of the largest motorsport clubs in the GDR, was also active in traffic education and driving school training until 1990 .

The MC Wolgast currently has around 100 members and organizes motocross races with international participation on the racetrack at Wolgast Ziesaberg, which is managed by the association, and which have also been part of GDR and German championships several times. In addition, between 1964 and 1994, the club organized eleven runs at the Dreilindengrund on the Peenestrom for the GDR and German championships in motorboat sports .
