Maba Jobe

Maba Jahou Jobe (* 1964 in Farafenni ) is a Gambian politician who briefly served as foreign minister of the West African state.

Life

Jobe's father played a role in the history of the Gambia , as historical documents show. It was he who obtained the Union Jack for the independence of Gambia in 1965 and raised the red, white, blue, white and green flag of Gambia in a solemn ceremony .

Jobe was an officer in the Gambia armed forces in the 1990s , which he joined in 1984. He achieved the rank of major in his military career . He resigned from the army in July 1992 and joined the diplomatic service in October of the same year . He was the first officer of the Gambia National Gendarmerie and the Gambia National Army .

First he was Deputy High Commissioner in London until he was appointed High Commissioner in Nigeria in 1996. He resigned from this office in 2001 after five years.

On October 19, 2006, he was announced as the new Foreign Minister of Gambia as part of a cabinet reshuffle . The appointment was declared null and void by Jammeh on October 25th and instead Bala Garba-Jahumpa was assigned the responsibility of the Foreign Ministry.
