Farafenni (spelling variant: Farafeni ) is a town in the West African state of Gambia .
According to a calculation for the year 2013, about 19,512 inhabitants live there, the result of the last published census from 2003 was 19,572.
geography
Farafenni, the largest town in the North Bank region in the Upper Baddibu district , is located on the North Bank Road about 60 kilometers west of Kerewan and about 14 kilometers north of Mansa Konko , on the other side of the river. Farafenni is an important traffic junction, as the Trans-Gambia Highway ( N 4 ) runs on the north-south axis and the North Bank Road runs in the west-east direction. The Trans-Gambia Highway connects Senegal with the Casamance region , while the road leads via Kaolack and Nioro du Rip through Gambia via the cities of Farafenni and Soma to Bignona and Ziguinchor again in Senegal. In January 2019 the long-term project to build a bridge over the Gambia was completed.
Culture and sights

In Farafenni is an important market place for the region and in the west of the place is the Farafenni General Hospital . It is a main hospital for the division and provides health care to the northern neighboring country of Senegal .
