Kerewan (spelling variant: Kerevane ) is a town in the West African state of Gambia and until 2010 was the seat of the administrative unit North Bank Region .
According to a calculation for 2013, around 3534 inhabitants live there, the result of the last published census from 1993 was 3403.
geography
Kerewan, formerly the seat of the North Bank Region administrative unit and located in the Lower Baddibu district , is located on the northern bank of the Gambia , on a tributary called Mini Miniyang Bolong (according to other sources Jowara Bolong or Koular Bolong in Senegal ) and about 50 kilometers to the east from the capital Banjul and 50 kilometers west of Farafenni . The typical landscape is swamp and further away from the river the savannah . The North Bank Road, which leads to Farafenni and thus crosses the North Bank region, is not paved, but is to be expanded by 2007.
