Lower Baddibu is one of 35 districts - the second highest level of administrative division - in the West African state of Gambia . It is one of six districts in the North Bank Region .

According to a calculation from 2013 about 14,875 inhabitants live there, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 15,157.

The name is derived from Baddibu , a former small empire.

According to a survey from 1993 ( census at that time ), the Mandinka represented the largest population group with a share of around seven tenths, followed by the Fula and the Wolof. The distribution in detail: 73.6% Mandinka , 11.6% Fula , 11% Wolof , 0.3% Jola , 0.2% Serahule , 1.4% Serer , 0% Aku , 0% Manjago , 1.4 % Bambara and 0.4% other races.
