Central Baddibu is one of 35 districts - the second highest level of administrative division - in the West African state of Gambia . It is one of six districts in the North Bank Region .

According to a calculation from 2013 about 13,938 inhabitants live there, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 14,998.

The name is derived from Baddibu , a former small empire.

population

According to a survey from 1993 (census at the time), the Mandinka made up the largest population group with a share of around seven tenths, followed by the Wolof and the Fula. The distribution in detail: 66.9% Mandinka , 14.3% Fula , 15.3% Wolof , 0.2% Jola , 0.1% Serahule , 1.2% Serer , 0% Aku , 0% Manjago , 1 , 3% Bambara and 0.8% other races.
