Lamin Kaba Bajo

Lamin Kaba Bajo (also Lamin Bajo ; born November 10, 1964 in Brikama ) is a Gambian politician and sports official.

Life

Bajo joined the military in April 1984 after graduating from high school. There he reached the rank of commander in the military police. He later served the State House as a member of the Presidential Guard until the 1994 military coup under the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council (AFPRC), led by current President Yahya Jammeh . He then became Commissioner of the Western Division for five months .

In 1995 he was appointed Minister of the Interior and Minister of Religious Affairs in the government until 1997 by the AFPRC . He later became Minister for Youth, Sport and, from March 1998, Minister for Municipalities and Land Administration. In 2002 he was appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia and left the cabinet.

On October 24, 2005 he became Foreign Minister of the Gambia and served in this office until October 19, 2006. He was replaced by Maba Jobe as part of a cabinet reshuffle . As of February 2007, he was accredited as the Gambian ambassador to Iran .

On 4 February 2010, the Ministry of Fisheries, Water Resources and Affairs of the National Assembly, he was ( english Ministry of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters transfer) and replaced Antouman Saho .

In September 2014 he was elected the new President of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) and re-elected in 2018. In April 2019 he was named Sports Personality of the Year by the Sports Journalist Association of The Gambia (SJAG) for his commitment .

Bajo is also the Gambia's representative at the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) (as of May 2004). He is married to Mariama Bajo and has children.
