Powerless is a district of the municipality of Ronshausen in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in Hesse .

The place is first mentioned in 1329 as "villa Mechtolves". Mechtolves means something like "the mighty wolf". Other place names over the centuries were "Machtolf" and "Machtolfes". The village has been a state-approved resort since 1983 .

The formerly independent community Machtlos was incorporated into Ronshausen on December 31, 1971 as part of the community reform.

In Machtlos there is a holiday park with around 170 houses.

The place can only be reached via the district road 57, which branches off the state road 3251 in the Ulfetal . In the film In the Course of Wim Wenders' Time , Robert suggests driving the junction to Machtlos, but Bruno has already been to the village.
