Mad Season was a project by musicians Mike McCready (guitar, Pearl Jam ), Layne Staley (vocals, Alice in Chains ), Barrett Martin (drums, Screaming Trees ) and John "Baker" Saunders (bass, The Walkabouts ).

Band history

Mad Season originated on October 16, 1994 from a jam session in the Seattle Crocodile Café and only recorded one album, Above . On this album you can also hear as a guest Mark Lanegan , then singer of the Screaming Trees and later also guest singer of the Queens of the Stone Age . He contributed vocals to the songs I'm Above and Long Gone Day . Their first band name was The Gacy Bunch.

John "Baker" Saunders died in 1999 of a heroin overdose.

Layne Staley died of a heroin and cocaine (known as speedball) overdose in 2002 .
