Madeleine Dallmeyer (* 1980 in Munich ) is a German film director .

Life

Madeleine Dallmeyer grew up in Munich and focused on visual anthropology while studying ethnology at Ludwig Maximilians University . In the meantime, she was already making her first films. After completing her master's degree in 2006, she studied directing with a focus on documentary film at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg .

Since graduating in 2012 with the documentary short film Low Season in Paradise (2013), which was produced by the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in coproduction with the BR and won the 5th Filums Int'l Film Festival Pakistan as "Best Feature" (best film) was awarded, Madeleine Dallmeyer made several films, including short and feature films. In her work she deals with a wide range of topics, a recurring theme is the confrontation with the meeting of different cultures. Humor always plays a big role in her films, which always gives her films a certain degree of lightness.

Most recently she made a children's short film The Break for a project initiated by the Goethe Institute , which is aimed in particular at children all over the world who are traumatized by the crisis. The Break (the break) can be seen individually as a short film and as an episode of the children's film Limitless - Tales of Freedom & Friendship.

Your 90-minute documentary, The Village of Forgetfuls, about a small village in northern Thailand where dementia patients from Europe live and are cared for, had its theatrical release in Germany on September 20, 2018 and was the cinema tip of the week in 3sat Kulturzeit on the same day . The documentary (Kurhaus Filmproduction) was co-produced by SWR and nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize and premiered there. The village of the forgetful was shown on October 11, 2018 in the Young Documentary series on SWR television .

She is part of the Mareschka film collective.
