Madonna and Child in Bègues

The sculpture Madonna and Child in the Church of St-Aignan in Bègues , a French commune in the Allier department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region , was created in the 18th century. In 1982 the baroque sculpture was classified as a monument historique .

The wooden sculpture is colored in focus and gilded. The baby Jesus sits on the left arm of Mary , who wears a crown on her head, and holds the right hand raised in blessing.
