The Mae Nam Phachi ( Thai : แม่น้ำ ภาชี , "Phachi River"), or just Phachi, is a river in the western part of central Thailand .
It rises in the Tanawsri Mountains of the Tenasserim Mountains , which separates Myanmar from Thailand. The Tanawsri Mountains are in the Tanintharyi Division of Myanmar (formerly Tenasserim ).
The Phachi flows through the counties Ban Kha , Suan Phueng and Chom Bueng of Ratchaburi province . In the district of Mueang Kanchanaburi in the province of Kanchanaburi it flows into the Khwae Noi , which shortly afterwards merges with the Khwae Yai to form Mae Klong .
The catchment area of the Phachi is an area of 2620 km². Its headwaters are at an altitude of 1020 meters, the inflow into the Khwae Noi takes place at a height of 30 meters. The area of the Phachin receives an annual rainfall of around 1130 mm, 90% of which falls in the rainy season between November and May. In the last 30-40 years, many forests along the Phachin have been gradually cut down to make way for arable farming. Mostly pineapples are grown here in large plantations today . This led to increased soil erosion on the banks of the river.
The Chaloem-Phra-Kiat-Thai-Prachan National Park (Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ เฉลิมพระเกียรติ ไทย ประจัน ) is located on the left bank of the Phachi in the Ratchaburi Province . The 384.39 km² park was officially declared a national park on May 26, 2003 .
