Magdalene "Mieken" Rieck (born April 26, 1892 in Hamburg ; † December 27, 1977 there ; married Magdalene Galvao ) was a German tennis player and later a sports official.

Life

Rieck, a member of Harvestehuder THC , won the German championships in Hamburg in 1910 and 1911 . Her greatest success was the victory at the hard court world championships in Paris in 1913 , after she had already reached the final there last year. From 1911 to 1914 Rieck took part in the Wimbledon Championships and reached the round of 16 there in 1913 and 1914. At the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 , she did not take part in her first-round match against Norwegian Valborg Bjurstedt .

Rieck, also an avid hockey player, was ladies' warden of the German Hockey Federation from 1929 to 1945 and president of the women's committee of the World Hockey Association from 1930 to 1945 . She died in Hamburg in 1977 at the age of 86.
