Green Berry Samuels (born February 1, 1806 in Red Banks , Shenandoah County , Virginia , †  January 5, 1859 in Richmond , Virginia) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1839 and 1841 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Green Samuels was a cousin of Isaac S. Pennybacker (1805-1847), who sat for Virginia in both houses of Congress . He received a good education. After a subsequent law degree and his license to practice law in 1827, he began to work in Woodstock in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1838 congressional election , Samuels was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 18th constituency of Virginia , where he succeeded John Robertson on March 4, 1839 . Until March 3, 1841, he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Samuels practiced as a lawyer again. In 1850 and 1851 he was a delegate to a meeting to revise the Virginia Constitution. In 1850 he became a district judge and in 1852 a judge on the Supreme Court of Appeals . Green Samuels died in Richmond on January 5, 1859.
