Francis Walker (born June 22, 1764 in Cobham , Albemarle County , Colony of Virginia , † March 1806 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1793 and 1795 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Francis Walker was the younger brother of US Senator John Walker (1744-1809) and the father-in-law of William Cabell Rives (1793-1868), who was also a US Senator and American diplomat. He was born on the Castle Hill family estate near Cobham, which he later inherited and ran. In addition to his political activities and his work on his estate, Walker was a judge in Albemarle County and a militia colonel. He became a member of the Albemarle County County Council. Between 1788 and 1791 and again from 1797 to 1801 he sat in the Virginia House of Representatives .

In the congressional elections of 1792 , Walker was elected to the then newly established 14th constituency of Virginia in the US House of Representatives, which was then still in Philadelphia , where he took up his new mandate on March 4, 1793. Until March 3, 1795 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Francis Walker withdrew from politics. He died in March 1806 on his Castle Hill estate , where he was also buried. He was married to Jane Byrd Nelson, with whom he had two daughters.
