Edward John Robeson Junior

Edward John Robeson junior (born August 9, 1890 in Waynesville , North Carolina , † March 10, 1966 in Pascagoula , Mississippi ) was an American politician . He represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Shortly after his birth, in 1891, his family moved from Wythe County , Virginia to Cartersville , Georgia . There he attended public schools in Quitman , Marietta and Sparta . He graduated from the University of Georgia at Athens in 1910 . Robeson worked as a civil engineer in Bay Minette , Alabama and Ironwood , Michigan between 1910 and 1915 . He then worked for Newport News Shipbuilding & Amp. Dry Dock Co. from 1915 until his retirement on April 30, 1950.

Robeson was elected a Democrat to the 81st Congress in 1950 to fill the vacancy created by the death of S. Otis Bland . Thereafter, Robeson was elected to the four subsequent congresses. His term of office ran from May 2, 1950 to January 3, 1959. He ran again for election to Congress in 1968, but lost. Robeson lived in Newport News until 1964 . He then returned to Waynesville.

Edward Robeson died on March 10, 1966 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He was buried in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville.
